Cycles & Self: A Girls’ Learning Journey

A Rite of Passage through Body, Nature, and Connection

Cycles & Self is a series of gatherings for girls ages 9-12 years old. Whether participants have recently begun their first cycle or are still awaiting the arrival of their first bleed, this space offers a fun opportunity for connection, growth, and exploration as they embark on this transformative journey.

Each session will blend movement, deep dives into the topic of the month, and hands-on projects or crafts. Participants will engage in meaningful discussions, journaling, and have time for quiet individual reflection. And, of course, there will be ample time for silly games and laughter-filled activities while we’ll nurture both the sacred and the playful sides of this journey.

It’s a space to honor and explore the mysteries of menstrual blood, our cycles, and feminine power with reverence, wisdom, and deep connection.

Due to the nature of the content and centering our time around our biological bodies, this gathering is for folks assigned female at birth.

Session One: Anatomy + Physiology of the Menstrual Cycle

Session Two: Nature as a Guide, Seasons of the Cycles and Seasons of the Earth

Session Three: Friendships, Relationships, and Consent

Come to one, two or all three!

Please know that everything will be shared in an age appropriate way and will weave together anatomy/physiology, art, ritual, and personal exploration. Before each session parents will receive a more detailed overview of what will be covered and there will be email follow-ups after sessions as well.

When: 9am - 1pm on January 10, February 7, March 14

Where: The Chase Mill in Burlington, VT

A little about the facilitators:

About Lizzie:

For as long as she can remember, nature has been Lizzie’s safe and happy place. Lizzie has spent over 15 years working with youth as a nature mentor, girls' group facilitator, violin teacher, and nutrition educator. As a certified Fertility Awareness Educator, Lizzie is especially devoted to cycle health and holistic wellness, weaving these teachings into what she offers. She believes in the power of rites of passage and the importance of supporting girls through early adolescence with warmth, curiosity, play and reverence. Lizzie is very excited about offering Cycles & Self with Sienna where together we will help support the girls in growing relationships with their bodies, the earth, and each other.

About Sienna:

Sienna is constantly delighted by the inspiration she finds outside in nature. She brings a deep passion for empowering others to connect with their bodies and natural rhythms through time in nature, movement, and social connection. Sienna began facilitating spaces for young women 10+ years ago with teen/tween yoga classes and group work that promoted positive body image and self-esteem through conversation and play. Sienna’s devotion to supporting menstrual cycle health has deepened with studying abdominal massage and supporting birth + postpartum doula clients. Sienna is so excited to be offering Cycles + Self with Lizzie!
